E-permitting system improvements

The City of Whitehorse is making improvements to its e-permitting system for development and building permits.

The system now allows for mobile text notifications when an application status changes.

Notifications will be sent automatically to all users that have provided a cell phone number in their online profile. Users can update their online profile to change their contact information or to opt-out of the text notification service.

Email notifications will continue to be used to inform applicants of changes in the status of their permit applications. These notifications will now come from noreply-cityworks@whitehorse.ca to ensure they do not get flagged as spam.

The City’s e-permitting system allows applicants to:

  • Apply for building and development permits online – No in-person visits required
  • Know the status of your application at any time - Track permit status online in real-time
  • Submit documents online at any time – No in-person visits required
  • Save time and receive your approval more quickly - Reduced wait times and streamlined approvals

Staff are available in-person to assist applicants with the e-permitting system at the Building Services office, located in the Calcite Business Centre at Unit #6 – 151 Industrial Road. Applicants can contact Colin LaForme for assistance as well at colin.laforme@whitehorse.ca or by calling 867-689-9972.

Applicants can also continue to submit paper applications for building and development permits until the end of 2025.

The City continues to make improvements to the e-permitting system and will be sharing more updates as they become available.
