For the past 24 years, we've been steadily filling up our landfill. At our current disposal rates, it's projected to be full in just 34 years. While this might seem far away, finding and developing a new landfill site can take decades and cost millions of dollars.

As Whitehorse experiences significant growth and development, we must plan ahead to maximize waste reduction and diversion. Waste diversion not only extends the life of our current landfill but also aligns with our city's ambitious goal of achieving Zero Waste.
